Treaty of Paris of 1763

The Treaty of Paris, signed on 10 Feb. 1763, put an end to the Seven Years’ War between France, England, and Spain. Under this treaty, Great Britain assumed control of the former territory of New France, including Canada “with all its dependencies”; the eastern portion of Louisiana bounded by the Mississippi River; and everything on the Atlantic coast and the Gulf of St Lawrence that had been left to France by the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. For her part Spain surrendered Florida and all her territory as far as the Mississippi. Great Britain’s American colonial domain had suddenly more than doubled.
