Treaty No.10 (1906)

Treaty No.10, signed in 1906, brought Indigenous people in what is now northern Saskatchewan under the administrative control of the Canadian government. After Alberta and Saskatchewan achieved provincial status in 1905, Ottawa decided to formalize its relations with any First Nations there who were not under treaty. The Cree and Chipewyan in most of northern Saskatchewan, and in a small portion of eastern Alberta and northern Manitoba, were the intended beneficiaries of Treaty No.10.
