Constitution Act of 1982

The Canada Act of 1982, passed by the British parliament, ended that body’s power to amend the British North America (BNA) Act. It included the Constitution Act of 1982, which contained the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, recognition of the rights of Indigenous people, respect for the multicultural heritage of Canadians, a procedure for amending the constitution, and amendments to the BNA Act of 1867.
