Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (1632)

In 1627 war broke out between France and Great Britain. David Kirke was commissioned by King Charles I to displace the French from Canada, and he succeeded on 19 July 1629, when Samuel de Champlain was forced to surrender the settlement of Quebec. As early as April 1630, Louis XIII decided to demand the restitution of the country, but negotiations would drag on until the Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye was signed in 1632, allowing France to recover Acadia and Canada.
